Thoughts from the Theater - Insidious meet House

Let me say right off the bat that I enjoyed Insidious.  As I was watching, I couldn't help but think of how reminiscent it was to
Poltergeist as I'm sure you did as well.
I do realize that every movie takes a bit from every other, so after having gotten passed the familiarities, I found myself watching yet another horror classic recently and comparing once
again a similar story structure.
Has anyone seen the 1986 classic House starring William Katt and George Wendt?
If you haven't watched it since you were a kid like I did,
you may not have remembered the ending
which I found can be compared to that of Insidious.
**A House Spoiler(but honestly you should have seen it by now**
Once the main actor of House, Roger Cobb, smashes through the bathroom mirror to rescue his son, you might as well have called it The Further.  The darkness, the creatures, the obstacles preventing a struggling father from getting his boy back. Don't get me wrong, I do not think this is a bad thing, I simply like finding these 'aha' moments and getting a glimpse of where new directors may have pulled inspiration from.
